PETS ADD LIFE AWARDS $25,000 TO SHELTER SHOWDOWN CONTEST WINNERS

- Pets Add Life Shelter Showdown contest awards a total of $25,000 to three winning shelters to ultimately help more pets find homes-

(Greenwich, CT) – The votes are in! American Pet Products Association (APPA) President and CEO, Bob Vetere, is pleased to announce the winners of the Pets Add Life (PAL) Shelter Showdown contest. Rallying supporters for the most online votes, Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary is awarded a grand prize of $10,000 to use towards a community-wide adoption event celebrating PAL’s National Get a Pal For Your Pet Day, Nov. 19, plus $5,000 as an added donation to the shelter. Runner-ups Golden Paw Society and CATS Cradle Shelter each receive $5,000 donations.

“We are thrilled with the tremendous amount of participation and support the contest received,” said Vetere. “The ultimate goal of Pets Add Life and the contest is to help more pets find loving homes, and we are proud to support and award our top three winners to do exactly that. We thank each and every participant for their support in the contest and look forward to presenting more opportunities ahead!”

In total, 1,905 shelters across the nation were in the running to earn top prizes and a total of 182,604 votes were cast throughout the contest duration. To vote, supporters were encouraged to visit the Shelter Showdown contest online and vote for their PetFinder shelter of choice daily. Earning top honors, Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary of St. Pauls, N.C. received a total of 35,158 votes followed by Golden Paw Society of Huntington, N.Y. with 31,444 votes and CATS Cradle Shelter of Fargo, N.D. with 21,536 votes.

Founded by APPA, the non-profit PAL campaign is designed to demonstrate the joys and benefits of responsible pet ownership and encourage increased animal adoption.
