The American Pet Products Association (APPA) Announces Board Changes
(Greenwich, CT) - The American Pet Products Association (APPA) has named Michael Farmer Chairman of the Board; Roger Morgan has been named Vice Chairman; and Paul D. Cooke has been named Secretary/Treasurer of the Board. Additionally, Diane Peterson of Mulligan Stew has been newly elected to the Board of Directors.
As Chairman, Farmer presides over all meetings of the Board of Directors, the governing body of APPA. He also serves in a leadership advisory role guiding APPA’s industry-wide activities. Farmer previously served as Vice Chairman of the Board for APPA, and has been a board member for 9 years. Professionally, Farmer is the President and Chief Executive Officer of GlobalOne Pet, Inc., an entrepreneurial company focused on nutrition and quality of life for our pets. He provides strategic direction, product development, marketing and operational leadership for the company. Previously, Farmer was Co-Founder, President and CEO of Firstrax, Inc., a leading innovator of high quality pet accessories distributed throughout the world. Firstrax was acquired by the United Pet Group in 2005. With more than 15 years of experience in the pet products industry, Farmer earned his B.S. from Emporia State University where he was honored as an All-American athlete for his success on the basketball court and in the classroom. He later earned his MBA from Wichita State University.
Roger Morgan is President and CEO of The Bramton Company, an industry leader in quality pet care products. He holds a B.S. degree in accounting from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Before joining The Bramton Company, Morgan gained business strategy experience with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). During his tenure at BCG, he optimized growth strategies for multi-national consumer goods and retail organizations, including two years working abroad in Paris, France. Prior work experience includes positions at Walt Disney Imagineering and KPMG LLP.
As Vice President of Trade and Industry Development for Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, Paul D. Cooke has extensive experience in the consumer packaged goods industry. Professionally, his primary responsibility is focused around the needs of the customer and he covers all classes of trade. Cooke started his career as a sales representative for the Wm Neilson Co., the largest candy manufacturer in Canada. He became Vice President of Western United States & Canada for the Golden Cat Corporation, which was purchased by the former Ralston Purina Company in 1995. In 2002 Nestlé, the largest food company in the world purchased Ralston Purina and formed the Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nestlé, SA.
In addition, Diane Peterson was appointed to the Board of Directors. Peterson is the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for Cell Response Formulation, parent company of Mulligan Stew Pet Food, based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming where she is responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing of the company’s patent-pending product line. She has also been instrumental in the organic growth of the company from local sales in 2007 to international sales in 2009.
